Her work has had a significant impact on the fields of molecular biology, chemistry, physics, metallurgy, geology, genetics, and pharmacology, contributing to the discoveries of new drugs to combat many diseases. In 1969 she determined the crystal structure of toxins found in the venom of frogs in South America, which are used in the study of nerve transmission.
