Saul Perlmutter

Born 22 Sep 1959.American astrophysicist who shared (with Brian P. Schmidt and Adam G. Riess) the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics for “the discovery of the accelerating expansion of the Universe through observations of distant supernovae.” For this purpose, he had co-founded (1988) and led the international Supernova Cosmology Project based at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
