British CocaColaIn 1900, Coca-Cola was first sold in Britain in the basement restaurant of Spence's department store, a silk merchant and general goods store at 76-79, St Paul's Churchyard, London EC4. It later went on regular sale through soda fountain outlets, which included Selfridges and The London Coliseum. Charles Candler, son of Asa Candler, the owner of The Coca-Cola Company, had earlier brought a jug of syrup with him in a visit to London. Coca-Cola was invented on 8 May 1886 by Dr John Styth Pemberton in Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. |
