Baron Augustin-Louis Cauchy

Born 21 Aug 1789; died 23 May 1857 at age 67. French mathematician who pioneered in analysis and the theory of substitution groups (groups whose elements are ordered sequences of a set of things). He was one of the greatest of modern mathematicians. His name is one of the 72 French scientists engraved on the Eiffel Tower.
