Joke Of The Day

Too Much Hunting

Saturday morning I got up early, put on my long johns, dressed quietly, made my lunch, grabbed my shotgun and the dog, slipped quietly into the garage to load the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour.
There was snow mixed with the rain, and the wind was blowing 50 mph. I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day.
I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. There I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."
She sleepily replied, "Can you believe my stupid husband is out hunting in that sh*t?"

ARPANET linked four nodes

In 1969, the nacent ARPANET grew to four nodes when ARPA (the U.S. Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency) connected computer network nodes at four universities: the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in Menlo Park, Calif., U.C. Santa Barbara, and the University of Utah. Initial test login characters had been sent on 29 Oct 1969 from a ULCA computer to a computer at SRI, which were permanently connected on 21 Nov 1969 through early routers (small packet-switching computers then called Interface Message Processors). This “network of networks” eventually evolved into what became known as the Internet of the mid-1980s.«Image: Diagram of ARPA Network, Dec 1969, 4 nodes.
