Mikhail Vasilyevich LomonosovDied 15 Apr 1765 at age 53 (born 19 Nov 1711). Russian poet, scientist, and grammarian who is often considered the first great Russian linguistic reformer. He also made substantial contributions to the natural sciences, reorganized the St. Petersburg Imperial Academy of Sciences, and established in Moscow the university that today bears his name. |
