Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served. When little Logan received his plate, he started eating right away.
"Logan, wait until we say our prayer," his mother reminded him.
"I don't have to," the little boy replied.
"Of course you do," his mother insisted, "we say a prayer before eating at our house."
"That's at our house," Logan explained, "but this is Grandma's house and she knows how to cook."
Forestry congressIn 1882, the first national U.S. forestry society, held the American Forestry Congress at the Music Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the five-day event, which was visited by Ohio Governor Foster and ex-President Hayes, papers were presented, memorial trees were planted, and, as reported by the New York Times, “a resolution was adopted that it was the judgment of the Forestry Congress that the Congress of the United States should take steps to establish at State and national institutions experimental forestry stations.” Franklin B. Hough (who in 1881 had been appointed the first chief of the Division of Forestry, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture) delivered an address titled “Forestry of the Future,” in which he presented a detailed economic justification for a national policy of reforestation.« |
